School Sports Day
Swimming program

For our grade 2 and 6 students they have the opportunity to participate in a two-week intensive swimming program. The program aims to develop each child’s water confidence, swimming ability and awareness of water safety. Students are transported using down to the local swimming pool via our school mini busses.

Cross country

Students in grades 3-6 have the opportunity to try out for and represent our school in District Swimming, Athletics and Cross-Country events. We encourage and support children who perform well and then move onto Regional, Zone and State events in these sports.

BMPSSA

Pentland Primary School is part of the Bacchus Marsh Schools Sports Association (BMPSSA) as part of School sport Victoria. The BMPSSA helps provides opportunities for primary students to participate in competitive sport all the way to state level and above.

Friday Assemblies

Whole schools assemblies are held each Friday at 8:40am in the gym or on our outdoor basketball court pending weather. Parents are always welcome and encourages to attend to listen to the news, announcements and awards. Our assemblies are run with the assistance of school leaders.

Fun Colour run

The School Sports event is for all students in Pentland Primary School. It is run across two days, one for Foundation to 2 students and day for 3-6, out on our school oval where students are encouraged to dress up in their house colours.

For the first day Foundation to Level 2 students participate in athletics games and challenges ran and led by our School Leaders.

Students who are in Foundation to Level 2 participate in athletics games and challenges on their own oval across from the track. The activities are mostly focused on teamwork and cooperation, with some built in friendly competition. Students who are in Level 3 to 6 participate in multiple athletics events including 100m sprint, hurdles, shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, high jump and relay challenges.
Whilst the main focus for students in Level 3 to 6 is on participation, students have their times, distances and measurements recorded and those students who perform exceptionally well will have the opportunity to compete in District, Division and Regional competitions against students in other schools.
The House Athletics event is an extremely fun and exciting day, bringing the whole school community together. Students participate and compete to score points for their House in a fun, encouraging and supportive environment.

Parents’ Club

Parents’ Club is a great place to meet new people and share in your child’s social education at school. Our aim at Pentland is to create an engaging, fostering and supportive community spirit amongst all parents of the school.

We create this environment by implementing a variety of fun activities for both children and parents throughout the year. Pentland Movie Night, Hot Cross Buns at Easter, Mother’s and Father’ s Day stalls, End of Year Colour Run are just a few activities organised for the children to enjoy.

All parents are encouraged and most welcome to attend our monthly meetings, where they are given the opportunity to meet other parents from the school, voice their opinions in school matters, and share new ideas for the future of the Parents’ Club and the school as a whole.

Before & After School

Student safety at Pentland Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after
school.

Before school: Students within the school grounds will be supervised from 8:30am until 8:40am.
After school: Students within the school grounds will be supervised from until 3:10pm until 3:20pm.

Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised
times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e.
sports practice).

Parents/carers are encouraged to contact Camp Australia on 1300 105 343 or refer to https://campaustralia.com.au/schools/88F4 for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community or if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.
